Gen. Miller: The escalation of violence in Afghanistan is putting the peace process in immediate danger

The commander of US forces and NATO forces in Afghanistan, General Austin Miller, said that the escalation of violence in Afghanistan is putting the peace process at imminent risk.

"If the pace of violence does not decrease, the peace process will be very difficult to complete, as none of the parties will make the necessary concessions," Miller added in media statements carried by the Afghan TV channel.

He explained that the violence being pursued by the "Taliban" group has become more intense than usual and may increase, indicating that this does not provide the appropriate conditions for moving forward with what aspires to be a historic turning point in favor of Afghanistan.

Miller's statements come at a time when negotiations in Doha have been suspended in recent weeks and there are fears of a collapse of the talks with the leakage of statements indicating that the Taliban leaders have left Qatar.
